School & Library Sales

Become an EC (Educational Consultant)

You must be an "Educational Consultant" to service public and private K-12 schools and libraries.  This includes Book Fairs, RFTS, sales to teachers using school funds, booth events on the school or library grounds, teachers lounge setups, and such.  Please refer to the EC manual (in the EC kit) for details.  You may order the EC kit through OrderPro or the Business Supply Store on the consultant site

Easy Guidelines for Educational Consultants

A consultant who is trained to market Usborne and Kane/Miller products to the school and library market is an Educational Consultant.   You must be an Educational Consultant (EC) to approach schools and libraries.

For EDC to be successful, multiple EC's must not attempt to sell products and services to the same organizations.  EDC does not want to overwhelm the librarians with more than one EC attempting to service their business.  This will only irritate school and library officials to the point where they will not deal with the EC or the company.

  1. An EC should always check the website to see if the school or library is listed before they contact the school.    Don't approach schools that are listed.
  1. When you call the school, ask if they are already working with an Usborne/EDC consultant.
  1. Pass leads on to the listing Consultant - What goes around comes around.
  1. Before you call home office to ask a SL question - ask your upline supervisor(s).  They can help you find out the answer.

What to say if a listed school asks to work with you ... "I am already representing 7 other schools but I know your representative and they will take good care of you"

Some Cataloging Info Online
In Usborne Books, there is no Library Of Congress information listed to assist the librarian with cataloging.  This information is available by ordering Main Entry Cards.  The librarian might also be pleased to know about the following information online.

1.    Click on Begin your Search (under the SunLink logo).

2.    Enter Entire State (this searches a broader area and you'll get a hit - even if our book is just used in one of the regions).

3.    Enter a title in Quick Search (you'll get a lot of results or enter the specific Usborne title in the title line and author if you have it handy.

4.     After your list comes up - just click on the Usborne title to open up the window with the data and reading levels about that book.  If you put a check mark in the box next to our book on the main list you get just a short bibliography record - so just skip that.
